Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Jon Hul was raised by his parents in both California and Nevada. "In 1971, I attended Orr Junior High School (Las Vegas, NV). As a young student I learned basic drawing and arts & crafts skills." "In 1974, I attended Valley High School (Las Vegas, NV) and studied commercial design, oil painting, watercolor painting, drawing portraits, and making shapes in ceramics. My teachers were Mrs. McLaughlin and Mr. Parker. Both teachers encouraged me to try different mediums for use on both painting and drawing technique skills and studies. Now that I think back on all that they tried to teach me, to this day I'm still using some of their methods. I thank both of my teachers for assisting me whenever I needed their help or advise, and I thank god for having them, too!" "I do not have a college degree or formal training... Therefore, after graduating from high school, I did a lot of studying on the artists that inspired me the most. The artists were: Dali, Frazetta, Vargas, Escher, and Picasso. As time moved on, the newer artists I liked the most were Patrick Nagel, Olivia, and Sorayama. I studied the way they made use of color, format, style, technique, subject matter, impact, consistency, and so on." "I am also a self-taught musician. Shortly after graduating from high school in 1976, I took on some low paying free-lance art jobs, but I wanted to do something "different" on the weekends. So I learned how to play a set of drums (on a serious level), that's how the whole thing got started. I played music gigs off and on (for a while), but always made sure that when I was creating something with a pencil or paint brush, that music would have to take a back seat to my art career. No matter what, art was always my dream career." "In 1987, I finally gave up the drum playing for good (give or take a few more months), My focus was to become a full-time artist and devoted father. Since then, I've gained a reputation for painting "photo realistic" art. Now, I create and incorporate simple ideas into my work as much as possible without trying to make my art look mundane or boring." "We are now in the new millennium, and as time plays an important role so does the opportunity to seek out new ways of portraying my works of art for those who enjoy it. My web site shall up date from time to time with new erotic, sexy works in both black & white and color. Should the opportunity arise, please contact me with your comments or questions for I would want to hear from you all, thank you." |
