Eddie Davis - Airbrush Artist Profile

“Set realistic goals.”

Locale: Fort Walton Beach, Florida

Website: www.facebook.com/EddieDavisArt

Specialty: Skulls

Cred: Eddie Davis has been airbrushing professionally in the Fort Walton Beach/Destin, Florida area since 1989. He has worked with House of Kolor and Iwata/Medea at SEMA, was a winner of the 2009 Coast Airbrush Deck Competition, and airbrushed the custom street rods of Captains Andy and Jonathan Hillstrand from the Discovery Channel’s hit show Deadliest Catch. Eddie has a passion for teaching, is a lead instructor for the Airbrush Getaway’s Creating Killer Skulls class, and also helps with local surf schools in northwest Florida. When he’s not busy with art, he enjoys surfing with his family and “playing with shiny objects.”

Beginners’ bottom line: “Set realistic goals. Don’t bite more than you can chew. If you do this, you will keep getting better and build confidence along the way. You can achieve a certain level of technical and artistic proficiency, but you have to give yourself a break sometimes. Don’t be afraid to stop and regroup.”

Pro pointers: “Build the right relationships. Put your time and effort into your networking community. In your commercial work, never make painting what you like a priority over painting what you know your clients like.”
