I wish the information shared on this forum would have been available 40 plus years ago. Most folks just didn't say or do anything that might, in their way of thinking (even remotely), jeopardize their livlihood. The computer age has changed that archaic way of thinking for the better. I want to thank you for that! Now for my question: I am 69 years old, in good health both physically and mentally. My hand/eye co-ordiation is still good and the desire is there. Am I fooling myself into believing that I can still master (relative term) the AIR BRUSH at my age? Bear in mind that my longevity is considerably shorter than most. In the event I get a positive feedback to this message, I need to know what minimal equipment to get. I live on a very limited income, so cost is a major factor. Once again, thank you "airbrush forum" for providing a platform to discuss all aspects of this fascinating art form.

Hi. I'm new too! I work at an art store and you can get a decent airbrush for about $70 to $100 (of course they go farther up in price, but thats about the starting point.) Now I'm not sure if that would be for a Single or Double Action.

Two of the brands that we have at work are Iwata and Paasche. Both are great quality, though Iwata just seems to be more popular. They are the same quality. I myself have a Double Action Paasche Type "VL" and so far I haven't had any problems!!

From what I can tell, the most expensive piece to aquire would be an air compressor, seperatley which can be any air compressor as long as it has the right components that you will probably have to buy seperatley. That's about all I got. Just figured I'd respond to ya cause this is something I can actually answer. Well, I hope this helps you a bit at least!!
