Hiya all.
Has anyone got ant ideas of a good way of removing the rubber from a motorcycle helmet. I have tried masking it but the finish isn't as good as I would like.
Thanks

Airbrush Action's June 1994 edition has an article by Jim Haney that addresses this issue. He basically uses a push-out utility knife to remove the trim. The article does not go into detail about how to reattach the trim, though.

If you aren't getting good results with masking tape, you could also try a brush-on masking material. You could brush it on and overlap it onto the helmet a bit, and then go back with an X-Acto and remove the excess masking material. This masking method is better than trying to get tape to go around a curved surface, and you can mask much closer to the edge of the trim.

Do you have any suggestions for a product?

Liquid Frisket is the brush-on (liquid) product. It's a liquid that you brush on and let dry for a short time. When it dries, it creates a rubbery film where you brushed it on. This film can then be cut with an X-Acto knife to trim areas where you don't need it, or if you accidentally get some on a place where you want paint.

You can get this stuff at several arts and crafts stores, and I think you should probably be able to get it somewhere like Coast Airbrush, Dixie Art Supply or other paint and airbrush supply store. Check on the _link_s page for _link_s to these types of stores.
