How to Quiet a Compressor 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I'm moving into an apartment, but I want to keep spraying at all hours of the night. Any suggestions for a "muffler box" or any other ideas on how to quiet a compressor a little? Right now, I shoot a simple diaphram compressor - and cant really afford to buy a silent compressor. Thanks...

I had the same problem at one time. What I did was to use the a room that was as close to the middle of the apartment as I could find. In my case it was the bath room. So when I wanted to paint I took the compressor there and hung it from the shower rod. I know that sounds funny but a lot of noise comes from the vibration of the motor on the floor. once you get ready just shut the door run the hose to the room you are going to paint in. You will be amazed how much noise you cut down on. You will not get rid of all the noise but just enough that you might not bother the people next door.

Give it a try
