What's Inside:

September - October 2013 Contents

Airbrush Action again hired Don Kates, of Shooters Images, Inc., to photograph a pictorial on the beautifully custom painted motorcycles of Sturgis 2013, the world’s largest motorcycle rally.
PLOTTER SHOOTOUT: Graphtec Versus Roland  By Robert Townsend
Vinyl plotters revolutionize the stencil process by generating perfect stencils in a fraction of the time they would take to cut by hand.  This is especially advantageous if you make a mistake, a customer wants a piece reproduced, or you must replace a graphic due to damage caused by an accident.
AIRBRUSH ONE  By Kirk Lybecker
Here's a general approach to getting started in airbrushing. Initially, learning to airbrush can be a daunting task, but with an open mind, patience, and perseverance, the end result will be rewarding with your newfound ability to produce endless textures, broad coverage in no time, and countless uses and applications.
DEATH VALLEY  By John Seaton
This amazing step-by-step on a guitar demonstrates the versatility of the newly released AirSick Skull Background stencils that allow you to quickly fill large areas with highly detailed skull-and-bone piles.
Ground metal painting has experienced a renaissance over the past few years, and although the technique has been a part of the custom scene for decades, the public is just recently gaining increased exposure to this dynamic and eye-catching effect.
NUB  By Mary Kay Linge
“I’ve always got more than one project going on,” Nub says as he surveys a studio filled with pieces in various stages of completion. “I get bored otherwise. Maybe I have PADD—Professional Attention Deficit Disorder,” he laughs. Underneath it all there’s a definite artistic method to the madness. Otherwise, he’d never have survived the craziness of a six-year run on American Chopper, the reality TV show, with his sense of humor and his creativity intact.
Airbrush and pinstripe greats Mitch Kim, Jonathan Pantaleon, Glen Weisgerber, Gary Worthington, Rod Fuchs and Eddie Davis were asked to perform their magic on a skull, and they enthusiastically agreed.
T-SHIRT TACTICS: The Race Car Custom  By Wicked Jeff Jackson
"Rendering cars on shirts is not only challenging, but one of my favorite subjects to paint because it keeps my skills sharp, I’ve always enjoyed drawing them, and airbrushing cars can be rewarding and highly lucrative."
Airbrush great Terry Hill demonstrates two approaches to rendering spectacular marbleizing effects using additive and subtractive methods.  This faux texture is perfect for practically any surface, from walls to automotive substrates.
GLEN WEISGERBER: Style Setter Supreme  By Mary Kay Linge
He’s been an influential style-setter for 40 years, but Glen Weisgerber is not afraid of change. In fact, he’s launching a whole new career, or maybe two. And he’s partnering with Airbrush Action as he sets those plans in motion, including a fantastic four-day class at the Las VegasAirbrush Getaway in October.
This year’s Paint Buyer’s Guide is loaded with all the information you need to choose the correct paint for your application.

  4. A new comer to airbrushing 5 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Aug 2013

After getting a lap top with windows 8 I found I could not download the digital magazines I needed. Airbrush action is easy to download and with lessons I can use. Just finishing painting my Harley and now I can start working on the artwork. Looking forward to learn a new talent.

  5. No zoom on android 3 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Aug 2013

I use an Android tablet and the magazine is in slide format without any function to have a full page display in order to read so it's to small to do any reading.
I have seen it on iPad and it's loads better just not good on Android.
